Article 22: Shyban Rayi (al-Sufi) and Imam Ahmed

Auliya Had 'Gifted Knowledge'.

R-Translation:
 
"There is a hikaya of Hazrat Shiban al-Ra'i, Imam Ahmed and Imam Shafi'e (رضوان اللہ تعالیٰ علیہم اجمعین), that once Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) was sitting in the gathering of Imam al Shafi'e (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ), suddenly Sheban al-Rayi came there, upon watching him, Imam Ahmed (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) asked Imam Shafi'e (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) that 'I want to inform him (al-Ray'i the Sufi) on his lesser knowledge (of Deen), so that he also get involved into seeking knowledge (i.e, of Sharia)'.  

Imam Shafi'e (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) tried to stop him to not to do that, but he did'nt stop, and asked Sheban (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) a question, that 'If a person lost one prayers among the five, and he did not know which one he lost, then what is he has to do?'   Sheban (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) said:'O ahmed! such heart is remiss from Allah, it is compulsory to punish such heart, so that it cannot be in any case remiss again, so the person needs to do the all five prayers again". 

Upon listening to these words, (its written that)! Imam Ahmeb in Hanbl (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) became hysteric and syncope. When he came back to conscious Imam Shafi'e (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) told him, Didn't I asked you not to tease such people?'.
 
In another narration it is been recorded about question and answer that, he asked him that upon which quantity zakat (charity) is became wajib (compulsory)?. So Shiban Ra'yi replied him, that in your madhab such and such is upon camels, such an such upon cows, sheeps cattle, such and such upon fruitful trees and crops , and in my religion everything is for Zakat (charity)".

اولیاء کرام کو وہبی علم ہوتا ہے

حضرت شیبان راعی اور امام احمد و امام شافعی ؒ کی ایک حکایت مشہور ہے کہ امام احمدبن حنبلؒ امام شافعیؒ کی خدمت میں تشریف فرما تھے کہ حضرت شیبان الراعی تشریف لائے، امام احمد نے امام شافعی سے کہا!؛

کہ"میں چاہتا ہوں کہ ان کو اِ ن کی بے علمی سے آگاہ کروں تاکہ یہ بھی تحصیل علم میں مشغول ہوں"۔

امام شافعی ؒ نے منع فرمایا مگر انہوں نے نہ مانا اور شیبان راعی سے دریافت کیا کہ ؛

اگر کوئی شخص پانچوں نمازوں میں سے ایک بھول جائے اور یہ یاد نہ رہے کہ کونسی نماز بھولا ہے تو وہ کیا کرے؟ شیبان نے جواب دیا ۔ اے احمد! ایسا قلب اللہ سے غافل ہے۔واجب ہے کہ یہ شخص اپنے قلب کو سزا دے تاکہ پھر اپنے مولا سے غافل نہ ہو اور اسے چاہیئے کہ پانچوں نمازیں لوٹائے۔


یہ سن کر امام احمد پر غشی چھا گئی، جب ہوش میں آئے تو امام شافعی نے فرمایا؛

میں تم سے نہ کہتا تھا کہ انہیں مت چھیڑو۔

اور ایک روایت میں اسطرح آیا ہے کہ انہوں نے پوچھا زکوٰۃ کس مقدار پر واجب ہوجاتی ہے،تو شیبان راعی بولے کہ تمہارے مذہب میں تو اونٹوں میں اس مقدار پر، اورگائے بھینس میں اس مقدار پر، اور کھیتی اور پھل دار درختوں میں اس مقدار پر زکوٰۃ واجب ہوجاتی ہے، اور میرے مذہب میں تو سب زکوٰۃ ہی کے لئے ہے۔
